First: find the correct terminal
1. Open ICN’s **Airlines by Terminal** directory and search the airline operating your flight.[1]
2. Then search the **actual flight number and date** in ICN’s live flight information; read the T1/T2 field.[2]
3. For a codeshare, use the **operating carrier/flight**, not only the airline that sold the ticket. If the ticket says “operated by …”, search that flight too.
4. Confirm again in the airline app or booking, and on the airport display on travel day. A check-in counter or gate is not a substitute for the terminal field.
Save “ICN T1” or “ICN T2” in your driver note. Tell a taxi driver **제1여객터미널** (Terminal 1) or **제2여객터미널** (Terminal 2), not only “Incheon Airport.”

Both terminals provide the core international-airport functions. “Newer,” “quieter,” or “better shopping” should never override the operating flight’s terminal. Facilities and opening hours vary, so use the official airport map rather than assuming both sides match.

Moving between terminals before security
Free airport shuttle bus
The official inter-terminal guide shows: **T1 → T2** from T1, third floor, central Exit 8, about every 10 minutes, approximately 15 minutes; **T2 → T1** from T2, third floor, between central Exits 4 and 5, about every 10 minutes, approximately 18 minutes. The guide image states 05:00–23:00.[3] Another airport shuttle page can show route-specific operating windows and intervals, so check the live timetable rather than treating these figures as a promise.[4]
The bus ride is free, but waiting, finding the stop, loading luggage, and walking to check-in are extra. Budget **at least 30–45 minutes of recovery time**, and more at busy periods; that is planning advice, not an airport guarantee.
Airport Railroad (AREX)
The airport states that rail between T1 and T2 takes about **6 minutes** and costs **KRW 1,050**.[3] It is paid and requires reaching the station, buying/using the correct fare medium, waiting, and walking back to departures. Check the current schedule and fare before use.
Airside transfer passengers
Do not exit immigration merely to copy a landside route. Follow the green **Transfer** signs and your airline/airport instructions. Airside shuttle-train routing depends on arrival and departure gates; once directed onto some shuttle segments, you cannot simply reverse direction. Ask transfer staff if you lack a boarding pass or the connection changes terminals.
Which option fits your situation?
• **You arrived by taxi at the wrong terminal:** If check-in closes soon, ask airport staff which option departs first; do not wait for a preferred mode. Call the airline while moving.
• **You got off AREX one station early/late:** Follow station signs and use the next available paid rail service, or go to the official shuttle stop if landside and within operating hours.
• **Family with children and several bags:** The free bus avoids a rail fare but luggage handling and curb-to-hall walking remain. Allow a larger buffer.
• **Wheelchair user:** The airport lists a free lift-car service via Shuttle Bus Operations (032-741-3217), recommends advance reservation, and notes weekday 05:00–24:00 availability subject to vehicles/personnel.[3]
• **Very early or late flight:** Do not assume the free shuttle is running. Confirm that day’s timetable; taxi may be the realistic backup.
• **Short connection:** Follow transfer signage and contact the operating airline immediately. Do not improvise a public-area transfer without staff direction.
Departure-day checklist
• 24 hours before: verify operating flight, date, and T1/T2 on ICN and the airline app.[1][2]
• Before boarding your airport train/bus/taxi: verify again; screenshots can become stale.
• Keep passport, booking reference, operating flight number, and terminal visible.
• Arrive with the airline’s required check-in/security buffer **plus** contingency time; a terminal transfer is not part of the normal buffer.

Are T1 and T2 connected by a walkway?
