Jaguar Land Rover to cut 4,000 jobs over next two years

Jaguar Land Rover plans to cut 4,000 mainly UK head-office jobs over two years and save £1.7bn as it faces Chinese competition, US tariffs and the electric-vehicle transition. It will first seek voluntary redundancies until 4 October but may use less-generous compulsory terms if needed; the company employs 43,000 people worldwide. A cyberattack that halted production for over a month and tariffs helped push annual sales down from £29bn to £22.9bn, while the UK government ruled out a bailout but said it would engage with JLR.
