Alstom to Build 29 Battery-Electric Trains in Britain

Alstom will build 29 of Britain’s first battery-electric trains for long-distance mainline service in Derby. The nearly £1 billion investment is expected to support 350 Alstom jobs and 6,000 UK supply-chain jobs. Production is due to start in 2028, with service beginning in 2034.
