Lords call for AI 'kill switch' powers in UK

A group of UK peers proposed powers allowing the government to deactivate powerful AI systems and shut down data centres if the technology threatens national security. The measure was introduced as an amendment to the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill and is intended only as a last resort.
